Estate Planning

Jim develops personalized estate plans, which provide peace of mind when in taking care of their beloved ones while minimizing their tax liabilities. The plans are reviewed, implemented and updated as the clients' personal and financial needs change.

Business Planning

Jim works with his business clients to determine which will be the best entity for that client, whether a corporation or limited liability company, including closely examining the issues of reducing or minimizing tax and liability exposure.

Jim also practices in the area of securities law, specifically private placements and other securities law issues. A private placement will allow a business owner to raise capital for the company from outside investors, and involves a host of federal and state securities compliance issues.

About James H. Morgan, Esquire

Jim has been practicing law since 1991, when he received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of New Mexico. He is licensed in Colorado and New Mexico (inactive). In addition, in 2003 Jim obtained a Masters in Tax Law (LL.M.) from the University of Denver. Possessing a strong knowledge of taxation is essential, as tax considerations drive client estate planning and business law decisions.

Jim practices in the areas of estate planning (wills, living trusts, irrevocable trusts, special needs trusts, family limited partnerships (FLP), Medicaid law and Veterans trusts), corporate law (corporation and limited liability companies LLC), general business law and securities law (private placements).

In addition to his legal background, Jim has taught estate planning at the College for Financial Planning, and possesses a strong background in financial issues, having been previously employed in the securities industry, including as a registered representative and portfolio manager.
